Es una enfermedad infecciosa altamente contagiosa en perros, llamada también gastroenteritis hemorrágica canina, que afecta a cachorros principalmente y a adultos no vacunados y se caracteriza por la aparición de vómitos y diarreas constantes, frecuentemente sanguinolentas, fiebre alta y decaimiento pudiendo llegar a producir la muerte del animal.
Es una de las viriasis más frecuentemente diagnosticadas en la clinica veterinaria.
Para evitar el contagio, se empieza a vacunar a cachorros de más de 6 semanas de edad , siendo necesario poner dos dosis mínimo y una revacunación anualmente.
